Zain ul Haq Foundation - The story
As mentioned before, I'm using the blog to bring forward some opportunities that are working for social/environmental improvement that you could volunteer for or donate to. In this particular blog, I'm talking about the Zain ul Haq Foundation, and what they do.
THE STORY - Why they do what they do?
The Zain ul Haq Foundation was made in memory of Zain Ul Haq. Even though I never knew Zain personally, I knew him as one of my friends younger brother. He was a 22 year old boy studying to pursue medicine as his career from King Edward Medical University and was extremely compassionate and empathetic in his personal interactions and as a doctor. Although young, Zain wanted to grow up to help give access to good health care to everyone in his country because believed that everyone holds the right to good health care. And as much as I remember, I always saw my friend Rejja expressing her pride for him because Zain was extremely talented, academically strong and effortlessly selfless! Unfortunately, Zain left this world back in 2016 and left his family and friends heartbroken. However, wanting to keep his dream and goals alive, his family decided to set up Zain Ul Haq Foundation is his name where they do what he wanted to achieve, EVERY DAY. Zain is there motivation that drives them to relieve the pain of every patient that walks in.
THE OBJECTIVE - What they do?
At the foundation, all patients are treated and checked without ANY charges. These are people who can't even get check ups done, or know their diagnosis but cannot afford their treatment/medication. Their free pain clinic has been active since 2016 that provides pain killers and injections because SEVERAL people live with their pain and misery because they cannot afford the medicines.
The owners also own a small hospital that they started from a garage back in 1996 which is where they mostly generate their funds from, for the clinic and foundation. Besides providing health care, the ZUHF also has a teaching program where children are taught for free on Saturdays!
A lot of their donations go in buying medicines and medical equipment for these patients so they can get these healthcare facilities for free. They are collecting a fund these days to set up a free school along with the free healthcare work because right now the children they help don’t have a proper building they can call their second home. ZUHF wants them to have that just like any other kid.
The Foundation head office is in Z block DHA, Lahore but the clinic is set up adjacent to Nisar Colony, Cantt masjid.
DONATIONS - How to?
You can donate in the form of medicines, supplies for checking patients, and injections.
OR you can sponsor a child's education
OR donate books and stationery for them.
You can also just volunteer and help them out with work. :)
What my friend Rejja has to say:
Mom and dad work all week and then get up even on Sunday to work at the foundation. Ppl start showing up around 5 am go get a token and after 8 am, they stop getting tokens and come next Sunday. What amazed us was the response we got honestly..when ppl tell u they come from far away villages n northern areas cuz someone they know told them about us, it feels so good. Cuz they all take zains name and that’s all we want - for people to feel better and to keep his dream alive.
